Summer Fun, and a few confessions

Why do I always think summer is the time to get things done, when I will have all the time in the world? All the time for friends, all the time for projects, all the time for sewing and writing and reading and all the other things I love? It’s almost funny that I’ve arrived at 30, still thinking when summer is almost here, “That’s when I will do all those things.”

Is it some kind of flashback to those summers when I was young, before began working, and actually had nothing to do?

But I’m lucky really, because even though I haven’t had a lot of time to do all those things, I’ve been busy with good summer fun. You know, the kind that requires water and sun and friends and always results in sun-screen hair.
Here are some of our summer highlights so far, and a few of the reasons I’ve had trouble updating this blog.
#1  I turned 30. Whoa, am I really 30 years old?!!
Does this mean I’m really a grown up now?
#2  My husband and I enjoyed a weekend away at the beginning of July to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. Five years ago, people said we were so happy because we were “in the honeymoon phase.” Now that we’ve been married five years, I think those people can safely assume we are just happy to be together. I love you, babe! (And yes, I really call him babe). 🙂
I like Brian’s “tough face” here. Very masculine, don’t you think?
#3  My gorgeous mom turned… Never mind. I don’t think I’m supposed to mention that here. 🙂 The most important thing is that she has aged with grace and beauty. I hope those genes run strong in me!

Handsome Dad and beautiful Mom.
#4 My little man turned 4! Isn’t he handsome? How can he already be four years old??
#5  My kids became addicted to the pool.
Summer fun at it’s best.
And here are a few more pictures of our summer so far. It’s been a fun one, and I’m glad it’s only half over. Because I still have a lot of things on my summer to-do list!

You have a lovely family! I’m 42 and don’t feel any older than when I graduated. I am certainly more confident and sure of who I am and that’s nice! Cute dress for a pretty little girl!
