Roses are red, a journal that’s new

Hey everyone! I’m back today with another lovely handmade journal cover. I’m addicted to making these, you guys!

If you missed my post yesterday, head on over now to see the personalized journal I made for my son’s sixth birthday gift. It’s ALL boy, so if you’re looking for ideas along that vein, check it out!

Today’s journal is a little less boy and a lot more me. Roses on leopard print, teal, coral, orange,  field study canvas and pearl bracelets = perfect. Love, love, love, love, love.

“The world was hers for the reading.”

My dear mamma is holding the journal for me in these pictures. Isn’t she wonderful? Sorry you can’t see her face. I assured her this was simply a product shot. But I can promise you, she’s lovely.  🙂

Some journal details:

The outside print is Domestic Cat in Aqua by Anna Maria Horner for her Field Study Linen line. Assuredly, this is fabric goes down as one of ALL TIME FAVORITES. It’s a great home-dec weight linen blend fabric, great for pillows, home accents, bags, and accessories such as journal covers. I have enough left over to make throw pillows for our couch. Yum!

The inside print is Lizzy House’s Pearl Bracelets in Persimmon. I love this shade of orange, and I have to tell you–I find myself using A LOT of pearl bracelets in my sewing these days. You may have spotted some last month on my blog here.

I topstitched the journal in a gold/dark brown heavy duty thread from my local Joanne’s Fabric & Crafts and I love how it looks. Topstitching can really make a project, can’t it?

The pen holder is a fun detail and makes the journal perfect for traveling.

I think this fabric covered journal is the perfect summer craft. If you’d like to make your own, head over to Darling Adventures for the video tutorial. It’s really well done and easy to follow. Even beginning sewists can sew a journal cover with confidence!

Thanks for stopping in, friends! What have you been sewing lately? I’d love to hear about it!
