The Murphy family: Baby Stryder, Hudson, Caila, Abby and Brian

Happy New Year! It seems like all over the place people are setting up their New Years Resolutions.

Since these usually end in disaster for me (“make my bed every day,” for example) I’m going to change it up this year. Go for less strenuous resolutions and try to just add things that will bring enjoyment to daily life.

I’m not sure you can call these resolutions. Some of them sure are, but most of them are simply my goals for 2012.

They are:

Sew more for myself
Sew more for my boys
Continue drafting my own sewing patterns
Post some tutorials on this blog
Add more color to my  home (go bright!)
Learn a bit more about photography
Go on some mini-vacations with the kids
Go on at least one weekend-away with just Brian
Blog again!
Run another half marathon
Lose the baby weight and get back to feeling like myself again
Move into a house (buy one, hopefully!)
Did I mention BLOG AGAIN?!

I’ll keep you posted on these as the year goes by. Three cheers for new beginnings!

In other news, this little guy joined our family two and a half months ago and I AM IN LOVE:

Stryder Alan Murphy
Born October 16, 2011

He is seriously the easiest baby. I can’t believe I’m so lucky to be his momma. The only problem I have is finding enough time to look into those beautiful blue eyes. My other two joy-filled-jumping-beans take A LOT of time and concentration. Thankfully, this one is content to watch the commotion and laugh at his brother and sister.

Take a look at the photos below to see what I’ve been up to on the sewing front. Sorry the pics aren’t the highest quality. I got an iPhone for Christmas (eeeee, jump for joy!) and I usually only have enough time to snap a quick iPhone pic before the moment passes.
And lastly, a quick thank you to those of you who took the time to read this. I was a very unfaithful blogger in 2011 (but heck, I had a baby!). I’m hoping for a better year this year. Happy New Year! I hope it’s a blessed and fruitful year for you!

My sweet little Abby-girl, almost 2 years old now.
I’m currently finishing up the pattern for this dress: the Tied Summer Dress.

Working on a pattern for this little apron now, too.

Here’s another teaser. Tied summer dress

I wanted to pull my hair out a few times making this crib bumper, but it finally turned out beyond awesome.
