I am bouncing around on my toes because I’m so excited to share this with you! Awhile ago I learned that my photo was chosen to be the cover art for Issue #9 of Sew It… Today magazine. And it’s on stands now! Eeeeeeeee!
I meant to post about this two weeks ago so you could run out and buy it, but I shared it on Instagram and Facebook and then life got away from me. Today’s announcement is for those who didn’t learn the news through social media and who (hopefully!) will want to support this wonderful magazine that has given me such groundbreaking opportunities.
Truly, I am so thankful for how the editors at Sew It… Today magazine have believed in my work and given me a chance. Those ladies have helped me grow in leaps and bounds since I started designing for them last summer. I honestly don’t know where I would be without their guidance! Over this past year I have learned how extremely important it is to open yourself up to critiques and compliments, and believe in the advice given by people you respect. There are so many ways I want to improve in the future, and new skills I want to learn, but I’m happy with where CailaMade is right now and for all the help I’ve received along the way.
If you visit your local Jo-Ann’s Fabric & Craft store and see that little face looking at you from the magazine rack, will you please carry it to the register and spend $3.99 to support this great magazine (and me!)? Tell them you would love to see more issues of Sew It… Today at their store in the future.
One last thing before I go… The day this issue hit the racks my kids and I happened to be shopping at Jo-Ann’s. I swung by the magazine section “just in case” and all of a sudden Hudson yelled (he’s never quiet) “Look, it’s baby Silas!” I swung my head to where he was pointing and sure enough, there was my photo on the rack! It was such an exhilarating moment. All four of us crouched down on the ground and took pictures with the magazine. Hudson and Abby told every stranger in the store about how their mommy took “that picture of the baby on the magazine.” They were so proud of me! I can’t get over it.
That’s all for now, folks! I have some fun things up my sleeve for the next couple of months and I might upload a sneak peak here tomorrow or the next day. I’m excited and a little nervous to be honest! What does the future hold?? I don’t know exactly but I am SO EXCITED to find out.
I read this quote from Henry Ford the other day and it struck home. Does it inspire you, too?
You can do anything if you have enthusiasm. Enthusiasm is the yeast that makes your hopes rise to the stars. Enthusiasm is the sparkle in your eyes, the swing in your gait, the grip of your hand, the irresistible surge of will and energy to execute your ideas.
Enthusiasts are fighters. They have fortitude. They have staying qualities. Enthusiasm is at the bottom of all progress. With it, there is accomplishment. Without it, there are only alibis.
Okay, okay. One more thing before I go! Here are a few photos of Abby and her best friend that didn’t make it into the magazine. I love them too much not to share!
