KCWC Day 2 {My very own Princess and the Pea}

The Pattern
This little dress was made from Figgy’s Ofelia Dress pattern. I tried this pattern a few months ago and was pretty pleased with it. This time I made some changes: I shirred the sleeves, added a contrasting elastic casting on the neckline and stitched a big satin on the front.
I love the result!

Another fun touch: some crocheted little flowers and a butterfly near the hem. Abby noticed this detail right away!

The Sewing
The dress came together really quickly. One reason I like this dress style is that it affords so much room for creativity. I only had 3/4 of a yard of fabric, so the “dress” is really more of a tunic-length.

The Fabric
Now, let’s talk about this amazing fabric! It’s the Princess and the Pea print from Heather Ross’s first Far Far Away line. Do you grieve for that line as much as I do? What I wouldn’t give to have it reprinted!

The fabric is a double gauze, beautifully lightweight and easy to sew. The sleeves are from a Michael Miller dots print. This blue is one of my favorite colors right now.

Ok, that’s all for now! More sewing pictures to come. Thanks for reading friends!

      Glad you like the crocheted details! I love putting on little “secret” things for Abby like that. And I’m always so impressed that she notices them right away. She must be like me… 🙂

    Thanks everyone! The princess and the pea fabric really makes the dress, so I have Heather Ross to thank for a successful project! 🙂
