I’m so excited to be participating in Sew Mama Sew’s international Giveway Day this year! What is Giveaway Day, you ask? It’s a chance to enter hundreds of giveaways and win awesome stuff before the holidays. In other words, it’s a handmade-lover’s dream come true!

You can go to the Sew Mama Sew site for a full list of goodies offered as giveaways. Mine is listed in Sewing + Craft Supplies because I’m giving away…

Far Far Away 3 Fat Quarters! I will give away a set of four coordinating fat quarters to TWO LUCKY WINNERS. Yes, you read me right: two of you will win! (I’m sorry, but I can only ship to the U.S. and Canada).

This fabric retails at between $16 to $20 a yard, so don’t miss the chance to win! Far Far Away 3, by designer Heather Ross for Kokka, is a Japanese import fabric printed on a Cotton/Linen blend. It’s perfect for quilts, garments, accessories, craft projects–pretty much everything!

To enter my giveaway, all I ask is that you answer a simple question in the comments: Are you sewing any handmade gifts this year? If so, what are you sewing?  I love to hear from readers, so don’t be shy! :)

Thanks so much for visiting CailaMade! I hope you stick around and like what you see. For sewing inspiration and tutorials, see my tutorials page. I even have some free patterns! Happy Sewing! *mwha*

I have started making sock monsters for our eight grandkids but I’m not sure that I’ll have them all made by Christmas. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

  3. says

I’m sewing a bunch of patchwork throw pillows for relatives, I already finished my first ever quilt as a gift to my 3 year old son, and I’m going to sew my husband and son matching flannel PJ pants! Oh and embroidering (monogramming really) some towels for my husband’s grandparents!

  4. Sherrill Glick says

I plan to make clutch purses with my embroidery machine. I also plan to make lined wool mittens and maybe some pajama bottoms.

With a newborn at home, I will be lucky to get a baby blanket done and maybe a holiday cardigan for my daughter. …maybe a simple zip pouch or something.

  7. says

I’m working on some zip pouches for friends – but I’d also like to treat myself and make a nice infinity scarf – knitted or corduroy, haven’t decided :)

  8. says

I am !! I’m going to be making two quilts (one for my sister and one for my grand-mother) and I’ll be making an IPad cover for my SIL ! I haven’t started yet…

  9. says

I’m not making any gifts myself this year. I am too pregnant to do anything comfortably except sit in my recliner and do some handstitching. Hoping to finish my Hexy MF before baby comes in 3 weeks!

  10. says

Handwork was always my mother’s forte, but not so cmuch mine. In fact, hand seing is my nemisis. So no nothing is handstitched this year. However, I hav challenged myself and have a Christmas redwork pattern I plan to do (lunchtime Stitch & Bitch at work)in an attempt to conquer this.

  11. says

I wanted to have made more handmade gifts this year but…, hehe. I have plans to make a few zippered pouches and two pincushions.

Thank you for a wonderful and generous giveaway and a chance to win. Two winners! Woot! Woot! You Rock!

I’m tending a sick kid today, so won’t be able to enter all the giveaways :( But happy when yours popped up in my reader…sweet! I am sewing a spiderman cape for my middle son. I know, spiderman doesn’t wear a cape, but he has no idea of that fact :) Trying to keep my list smaller this year so I can enjoy more w/ my kids!

  13. says

I don’t like deadlines, so I don’t sew Christmas gifts. I’m thinking of giving my brother and his new wife a certificate for them to commission a quilt from me though.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  14. says

Yes! Well, semi-handmade! :) I did embroidery on t-shirts for my nephews and niece and will be making a subway art embroidered shirt for my mother-in-law with her grandkids names! I also plan to monogram some scarves!

  15. says

Yep, trying to make a boat load of things this year. I’ve already finished 2 quilts, but I have a bunch of smaller items left to do – placemats, mug rugs, journal covers, and ornaments. These items aren’t large, but high in number!

  16. says

I’m sewing minky blankies, animal hats, some soft toys, and a couple of iPhone wallet/pouches. Then I finally get to get back to my second daughter’s quilt for her new bed!

  17. says

I’m aiming to make a stocking and zipper pouch for my sister. I wanted to make her a quilt but that was a bit too ambitious (I still plan to do it, just not for christmas THIS year).

    I love Heather Ross fabric!!!

I am making handmade gifts for all my kids’ teachers and my friends and family. They will be getting either a shopping tote, a zipper pouch or hand warmers and hot packs with lavender.

  23. says

Right now I’m just working on a tie for a friend. I don’t know if I’ll be making other things as gifts, I’m really behind in my planning this year.

  24. says

Oh I love that fabric so much Caila. I’m sewing a bag for someone and a doll for my daughter. I don’t do a whole lot of sewing at CHristmas since two of my kids have birthdays and don’t like handmade gifts anymore ….

  25. says

Ohhhhh…I want some of that! Purdy!!!! I’m not doing any sewing for gifts this xmas :) I’m only making goodies for myself…lol. I know, sounds bad but it just worked otu that way thsi year. I am knitting a gift though.

  26. says

Not this year. Last year, I hand blanket-stitched felted letters onto fleece blankets for family members. I am making about 20 placemats for meals on wheels though, technically, they are not X-Mas gifts.

  27. says

  29. says

I was trying to sew my first quilt for Christmas this year, but think I need to give myself a little bit more time! The recipient’s birthday is in April, so I’ll aim for that, instead. :)

  30. says

I LOVE far far away fabric!
I am sewing for a new grandson due in January, so I am not sewing for any Christmas presents this year.

  32. says

I’m sewing bags for my sister, mom & grandma. I also plan on covers for 24″x24″ pillows for my niece & nephews. I’ve thought of more, but my list will be too long for the time I have left!

  36. says

What a generous giveaway Caila!! I am drooling over those bolts of fabric! I am sewing a quilt for one of my boys that didn’t get made last year( but the other 5 kids’ did!). I am making a tree skirt today and would like to make the 8 of us a stocking but am hoping to at least make one for my 19 month old one because I bought her a flimsy one last year for her 1 st Christmas knowing I was going to make her one. So, not too many gifts but certainly Christmas sewing!

  37. says

No, not sewing any homemade gifts this year, unfortunately. I wish! Last year I made mug rugs, but I am focusing on a quilt for my baby girl who is due in March. :) Thanks for the giveaway!

  38. says

First of all I love Heather Ross! Pretty please?
And yes, I am making too much for Christmas. Scary as there isn’t much time left. 2 dolls with clothing, one quilt for my husband, tons of felt food for a new kitchen set and painting some wooden puzzles. All of these projects are needing to be worked on still! Yikes!

  39. says

Rockin giveaway, Caila! Hmmm well I hope to be doing some holiday sewing. But I still seem to think I have lots of time…. So have no plans as of yet. ;-)

  40. says

    Greetings from northern Canada!!!

Yes, I’m making handmade items this Christmas, I’ve already started. I have about 10 cross stitch ornaments stitched and I’ve started (today) sewing them into ornaments. I’m also hoping to have a Christmas table topper finished but I’m not holding my breath on that one.

  41. says

I’m making a doll quilt for a friend and some leggings for my daughter. There might be a full size quilt on my list, but only if the baby starts sleeping for more than 45 minutes at a time…

  42. Rachel Horton says

I’m using some tutorials from Film in the Fridge… pillowcases for my grandmother, Christmas pillowcases for my kids, reversible market totes for my daughter’s teachers. Also hoping to make some sleeping bags for my daughter’s baby dolls! Thanks for the giveaway!

  56. says

Yes. I am working on drawstring bags a la Jeni from In Color Order and rice bag neck warmers or bed warmers. My longstanding WIP is a quilt I started 3 years ago for my best friend. Maybe she’ll get it this year. Here’s to hoping at any rate. PS. She is such a good friend she just cleaned out her fabric stash and sent me her remnants of Heather’s Goldfish in Bags. She is that good of a friend. Thanks for your giveaway.

  57. says

I’m sewing some pouches for sewing buddies! Little, fiddly Japanese-style ones with hand-sewn zippers :)) Thanks for the chance at this very generous giveaway!

  58. says

I’m sewing quilted potholders for my sisters, mom, and mother-in-law. Ahem… at least that’s the plan. I do have assorted thrift-store finds as backup, in case I don’t get them done (but I do have everything cut out, and that usually is where I procrastinate the most!). Also, I’m hoping to finish Liana’s quilt, but have already decided that would make a fabulous first birthday gift, too. :)

  59. says

Hi! Last year I made 5 quilts and that was wayyyyy too much. This year I’m knitting a few hats, sewing some gift card holders, a pillow and a couple of small doll quilts and dog mats. That’s enough!! : )

  60. says

I’m going to try and finish a wall quilt for my grandma for this christmas, but we’ll see if it actually gets done this year ~

  66. says

Thanks for a chance to win.

  79. says

Hah I’m working on finishing up my HexyMF quilt (a Grandma’s Flower garden – Katy Jones did a QAL) which is handsewn – I consider it a gift for myself! Thanks for the chance!

  80. says

I want to be making something for Christmas, but haven’t quite narrowed it down yet. Which means I’ll probably be making some cute pincushions or freezer/heat packs the night before. -grin-

This year I’m trying to keep sewing to a minimum… except… I’m making a quilt for my brother, bow-ties for his boyfriend, and a holiday quilt for myself! HA! But everyone else gets crocheted or woven things this year. ‘Cause that’s less time-consuming (har-har) ;–)

Love these fabrics! I’m sewing/knitting/crafting lots of gifts this year — a cowl for one sister, make-up bags for the other, a wine cork wreath for my parents, a stuffed giraffe for my friends’ kid. I always seem to over-estimate my ability to actually get stuff done, though!

I am making lots of handmade items this year: quilts, dolls, bags and a sweet artist’s smock for my little niece from Sew Liberated. I’d also like to make my daughter an appliqued library bag. :) Thanks for a chance to win this great fabric!

Oh my…that is beautiful fabric! I want to make mug rugs for gifts. Haven’t started yet so I better get a move on. Good thing they are quick projects. Thank you!

Lovely fabrics. After making my sister, mother and brother-in-laws quilts for the past three years I am taking a break, and giving them one, and not making them anything but instead am making a couple of friends table runners.

Hello! My family is spread around the globe, so every year we make and send each family a tree ornament. Also made my daughter a hot water bottle cover with a toasty toaster on it. And will likely make a few last minute gifts for my friends too. So that’s what I’m up to. Tannks for the lovely giveaway. berene(at)happysewlucky(dot)com

Yes! I made a jewelry roll for my mother-in-law and a casserole tote for my mom. I still need to make some kid gifts for my little cousins. I’m thinking a fabric swatch matching game. Thanks for the chance to win! akmajor (at) gmail (dot) com

Sadly, I’ve only been able to make a few items so far this year (some kitchen linens for my mom) but I’m hoping to get some more time to sew next week!

Oh my goodness what an awesome giveaway!!! Hmmm, yes I am sewing some handmade gifts it’s just a question whether or not I’ll get them all made ;) I’ve got a couple of 241 totes. I’m hoping to make some jammies for my kiddos and a couple of dolls…and infinity scarves. Thanks for the opportunity!

I started stressing too much about making gifts this year, so I gave myself the grace to just say no and buy gifts instead. I am making crocheted snowflakes for gift toppers

Squeee! What an AWESOME giveaway! :)

Sorry about the internet shouting… Heather Ross giveaways just do that to me. ;)

Anyway, I made a few handmade gifts this year: a zippy pouch for my daughter’s 6th grade buddy at school and a covered journal for her Kindergarten teacher.

Thanks for the chance to win!

I am running late on starting my gifts, but I hope to make cooking aprons for my boys (and train engineer hats) and some cut & sew dolls for my daughter. I am really running short on time though! I see a lot of late nights for this mama elf!

I am doing mostly handmade. I am making some purses, cloth shopping bags, reuseable sandwich bags, PJs, Nook cover, doll clothes, a stocking ans some baby toys. That is all I can think of off the top of my head without going to get the list.

I am making an i spy quilt and matching game for my daughters daycare, dr seuss quilt for my sister in law and drawstring bags to use instead of wrapping presents.

I’m making ornaments, nine cross stitch pieces, a couple of embroidery hoops and I’m hoping to finish a quilt as well… I should have started earlier.

As of right now, I’m not planning to sew any handmade gifts, but I may sneak in a zippered pouch or two for last minute gifts. Thanks for such a generous giveaway!

Almost everyone is getting handmade this year. I have to finish 3 quilts (1 half done), 2 super hero capes, 2 tree skirts (one done), 2 aprons, and 2 table runners. hmm… better get back to sewing.

I made 2 quilts and a few pin cushions. Most of my handmade gifts this year were knit/crochet (aprons, scarves, wrist warmers, blankets) and jewelry (earrings mostly).

    Thanks for the great giveaway!

I have intentions of making a few gifts this year, but my energy lately seems to tell another story. I’d like to sew a few hot pads, napkins, placemats and maybe even knit an infinity scarf or too. Slightly ambitious?! :)

  134. says

I ran out of time to sew gifts, but I’m making Korknisse (cork people with knitted hats and sweaters) to go with almost all my store-bought gifts!
