Home Tour: Living Room

“If I were asked to say what is at once the most important production of Art and the thing most to be longed for, I should answer, A beautiful house.”
William Morris

If you follow me on Instagram, you already know I have a little touch of house fever. House-decorating fever that is.

I’ve wanted to create a beautiful space for our family ever since we got married and started having children, but until now I never had a chance. We’ve hopped from apartment building to apartment building and state to state for six years now. Finally, we’ve landed in this beautiful home, on a LAKE. I guess good things do come to those who wait.

Our home has lots of clear, gorgeous light, tall ceilings and wide open rooms. I love this because when the kids start running in circles around the kitchen and living room, I don’t feel quite as crazy as I would in a smaller space.

I’ve been putting up pictures on Instagram for a while now, and finally Kristin told me to get my act together and share a home tour, already! The living room was clean for a split second the other day, so I grabbed the camera and snapped a few shots of our living room. The other rooms can wait for another day, since they are still a work in progress.

Chair: World Market
Foot stool: Antique family heirloom
Baby: homemade ;)
Rugs: Rugsusa.com (contemporary section)
TV: I’m looking for a wood table we can use as a TV stand
Wall color: I’ll let you know asap
Throw pillows: World Market
Milk Glass on mantel: family owned, and Cottage Charm
Turquoise candle sticks: Ditches to Riches
Child’s chair by the mantel: Antique store in Sisters, Oregon
Leather couches belong to my parents

Yellow throw pillow: World Market
Antique buffet: family heirloom, from England
Lamp: Home Depot
White chair with scripted writing: World Market
We are planning to put a family photo above the buffet. I can’t wait to get this space finished.

I call this my Downton Abbey space.
Silver pitcher: Ditches to Riches
Silver tea pot, sugar, and cream dishes: Cottage Charm
Tea cups and plates: Cottage Charm
Canvas art: Habitat for Humanity Restore

We are still looking for something to fill the space above this buffet. Probably a large family picture. In the meantime, this buffet still makes me happy every time I look at it.
That’s all for now, friends! I’ll try and continue this Home Tour through the other rooms, soon. Which means I better get finished with the redecorating, asap!
Perhaps I’ll share our entryway next. It’s almost done:
Feather Wreath: Joanne’s Fabric and Crafts
Rug: RugsUSA
Thanks for reading!

Thanks, Kristin! I always think it’s so fun to peak inside other people’s houses. I’m working on a new wall collage for this room, and I can’t wait to share the pics when it’s done!

God really has blessed us, friend, and I thank Him every day I come down and see the light coming through those windows! Thanks so much for your comment! :)
