Best of Summer with iCandy!

On this happy Friday, I’m thrilled to welcome Jen of iCandy with us for a Best of Summer pattern review! Jen and I spent the weekend together in LA a couple of weeks ago for Fabric Weekend and had so.much.fun. Seriously, this girl is a BLAST. The great thing is, she lives just over an hour from me so seeing each other again isn’t just a distant dream. Thanks so much for being here, Jen!

Hello Caila Made Readers- Jen here from iCandy handmade.
So happy to be part of the Best of Summer Series!

I am so happy to review the Isabella dress from the Peek-A-Boo Pattern Shop.  Isn’t it adorable?

I sewed the pattern exactly as written, using a navy kona cotton with contrasting polka dot fabric for the ruffles and sleeves.  I LOVE how it turned out.
It came together smoothly – I even learned a new trick!
I had never put a zipper in a dress without a center seam before, so I am excited to know how!
To answer a few questions about this pattern…
1. Why is this one of your favorite summer sewing patterns?
It is so whimsical and fun – I love all of the possibilities!
2. What do you believe is the skill level required? (beginner, intermediate, advanced)
I think I would classify this as advanced beginner to intermediate. There are some techniques that were new to me but they are explained very well.
3. What fabrics and/or colors do you suggest for this pattern, this summer?
I would choose any cotton fabric, in any colors or patterns. I bought this navy kona cotton and cute polka dot cotton at my local fabric store called Jennie’s.
4. Does your child like this outfit? If so, what does he/she like in particular?
She loves this dress so much – it is so girly and fun.  It is comfortable and whimsical.  Any little girl would feel great in this dress.
5. How long does it take you to sew?
A few hours.
6. Which size, view, etc. did you sew?
Size 5
